Good thing I refuse to watch horror movies unless with a group of people.
Last horror movies I saw?
Woman in Black (quite scary)- Saw with group of 7 Psycho (wasnt really scary)- Saw with group of 9 Paranormal Activity 2 (not scary, but still) - Group of like 12
Oh right. And you interviewed every single spectator to know how they felt in 60s. Even Hitchcock himself didn't consider Psycho a horror movie.
1.Thrillers are meant to thrill while horror films are meant to horrify the viewers. 2.Thrillers are predominantly witty, usually twisted, and contain better plots while horror films are, more often than not, predictable. 3.Horror films are often less practical and less realistic than thrillers. 4.Horror films usually have more supernatural elements than thrillers.
Sure Henrick. I know the difference between horror and thrillers. As far as I'm concerned the terms are largely interchangable as both can have aspects of the other. I would call SE7EN a thriller with horror elements, but I wouldn't call it a horror movie. I would call Psycho a horror movie. It has "detective elements" but it's also largely a slasher film. It isn't very different from Halloween.
Also, uh, what the fuck? That's like saying "oh so you were THERE when The Exorcist came out!" No, I wasn't, but there's enough word of mouth and historical articles that have said such.
Finally, he was making a list of horror movies that he's seen. It's totally fair to list Psycho, as it features plenty of makings of horror. He's not wrong to list it. Now if he made a list of dramas and mentioned Psycho, that might be arguable there. But listing Psycho as a horror film is not some kind of incorrect action.
Over-reaction? First of all it's my mind I know what the scariest Got Dammed movie I've seen is, 1. Sinister 2. The Ring 3. Halloween 4 4. Friday 13th part 6 5. Halloween 2
"If you make yourself more than just a man... If you devote yourself to an ideal... You become something else entirely- A Legend."
Well that is why I love the horror genre, it's so wide and it's all subjective, whether you're terrified of demons, or serial killers or killer cars, there is something for everyone. And to me the old film footage in Sinister was deeply unsettling and very well executed.
I finally saw Sinister. Just like Insidious, the first half is amazing horror. The atmosphere is there/. The creepy factor is there. But the the second half falls apart and becomes victim of the "show too much because we ran out of imagination." The second half is better than Insidious', but that's not saying much. The overuse of jump scares was unfortuantely, especially at the very end. When you have a work of art where the movies within the moviesare more interesting, you have a problem. It's a solid flick and worth checking out, though.

So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
I've never seen Sinister. But I have seen Woman In Black mentioned above and I enjoyed it. I really like suspenseful kind of horror movies like that or like the Mirrors or the Others. But bloody and gory stuff doesn't scare me, because I think it's gross. It's like the thread says, OMG why did I watch that? lol. Like the Texas Chainsaw. Wish I had never seen it. It wasn't scary, just gross and it made me cringe. And I've seen the trailer for Human Centipede and I wish I could erase that from my brain. Like whyyyy would you make that movie????
Since about the time of 6th Sense (great flick), I feel that we are stuck on the "scary kid" genre for scary movies these days (Insidious, Sinister, Let the good one in, 11/11/11, all the PA's, etc. VS. the old kid genre like Poltergeist, Children of the corn, The Exorcist, The Omen (1976)).
I have not thought much of any of these newer movies and feel that effects are taking a bigger role than story, suspense, creepy villain/villains, and characters/protagonists that you actually give a hooter about (wtf w/ Hostel's/Slither/Saw's). I still think the original Alien's, Friday the 13th's, Nightmare on Elm street's, Shining, Hellraiser's, The Thing, The Abyss, Jaw's up til seaworld, The Monster Squad, etc. are better movies than the crap that we keep getting these days.
