Will the last movies ever get OSCAR nominations!?!?!

Star Wars had them for its 1st film! LOTR had them for all 3 of its movies! Do you think the last 2 Potter films will be these critical darling that will be nominated for Oscar nomination at least for best picture! Of course best supporting actor and actress nominations would be welcome additions! Well anyway its too late now that filming is almost over. I just hope the new actors are really good. I think the closest an actor got to a nomination in these movies was Imelda Staunton (5th film). Although Robbie Coltraine was nominated for a BAFTA for the 1st film.

    The soundtrack for the first film was nominated for an Oscar, as was the soundtrack for Prisoner of Azkaban and the Visual Effects fro Goblet of Fire. And to answer your question, the films may be nominated but I do not think they will ever win any Oscars.

    A Best Picture Nomination is more than enough!
    And GOF and HBP also got 1 nomination!
    POA got a visual effects nom not GOF, that 1 got an Art - Direction nomination!
    I MEANT A NOMINATION IN A PRIMARY CATEGORY! NOT A TECHNICAL 1!
    The primary categories are 7 (more like 8 but a movie is either nomi9nated for an original or adapted screenplay):
    Best picture
    Best director
    Best original/adapted screenplay
    Best leading actor
    Best leading actress
    Best supporting actor
    Best supporting actress

    No. I do not think it is possible for a Harry Potter to get a nomination in any of the primary categories. It is possible that they get a nomination in some of the technical ones. Harry Potter films are just not good enough. They aren't even in the same league as Lord of the Rings. I mean i really enjoy them, but that is because i like the story and not because they are great films.

    I think Yates could definately pull it off. He's a very skilled director. 'Never Say Never' to an Oscar. I don't really mind if they don't win, but with Yates in charge they definately have the power to do well.

    Well, you never know. The Harry Potter movies are insanely popular at all the British award shows and ceremonies, but to actually win an Oscar...that's quite in another league. I mean, I thought HBP might have had a chance at winning the Cinematography Oscar, until of course Avatar was nominated...

    Best Picture: Regret to say: no way.
    Best Director: Yates is quite a bad director, he totally messed up the directors part in HBP (messing up the storyline, not the mention the neglection of the character devellopment)
    Best Original/Adapted screenplay: Highly doubt that, but not impossible.
    Best Leading Actor: Have you ever seen Daniel Radcliffe cry?
    Best Supporting Actor: Rupert has a really big chance of earning this one cause of Rons 'emotional journey', on condition that he plays Ron the same way Mo'nique played Mary Lee Johnston
    Best Supporting Actress: Emma could earn this one

    I think the Cinematography, Costumes, Score and Effects have a high possibility.

    Eh, I still don't think Emma or Rupert will be nominated for best supporting actor/actress. If any Potter actor deserves it it is Alan Rickman, and he will be fantastic when he's dying. Apparently he's so good he made David Heyman or somebody cry while they were filming the death scene.

    But the Oscars take place in between Part 1 and 2 so we wouldn't see Snape in Part 1. Therefore, we'd have to wait for the 2012 Oscars to see if he picks up any nominations.

    Yes it was confirmed that his death ISNT in the Shrieking Shack. But I hope they do it with Nagini so it will be a more long drawn out death that we can cry over. Haha.

    Why do they have to change his Snapes place to die when the shrieking shack seems like the perfect place particulary because if it is at the tower or even the boathouse, it totally gives no trueness to the book that Voldemort is trying to get inside Hogwarts and also it was Stuart Craig who cried over the death and i wouldnt be surprised if for Snapes death Yates replaced Nagini with just a simple killing curse... he better not though!

    They can't avada Snape or he can't talk and give Harry the memories and look into his eyes. It wouldn't be a death scene then. It would just be Snape is dead. They might not have the snake do it, but if they do there is no need for it too be extremely bloody.

    I don't think that it is confirmed that the place will be changed where Snape is killed. I think we have no information about that. It is possible that it will be changed though. I think it could go either way.

    I don't think that Snape will die in any place found inside Hogwarts. If it's not gonna happen in the Shrieking Shack, it will likely occur in the forest. But still it is not yet confirmed that it will not happen in the Shrieking Shack. It's just a report from occlumencia. For all we know it can be false and they just read the post of dream_silently here. I'm not a dream_silently believer. If Craig cried it is something worth noting. For a respectable person like him, a cry from him is a good sign. Here's the news regarding Stuart Craig crying over Snape's death if you haven't read it yet: In regards to the current production of Deathly Hallows, Stuart revealed that Professor's Snape's death scene took place a week before the interview, and stated that he actually cried afterwards, due to Alan's brilliant performance. He also noted that a new Golden Snitch had to be created for the final film, as it will be the one to open when Harry walks into the Forbidden Forest to face Voldemort. (Source: Snitchseeker)

    Regarding DH getting an oscar. I think getting an oscar nom for cinematography last year is a good start. Let's review the categories:
    -Cinematography: Eduardo Serra is a 2-time oscar nominee for Cinematography. I'm familiar with his work so I can say he is a sure nominee.
    -Music: Here is another good shot. Alexander Desplat is an Oscar favorite.
    -Visual Effects: a good contender here for both parts but I think Part II has a better chance.
    -Original Song: if all these rumors of Enya doing a song for DH is true then here is another shot.
    -Adapted Screenplay: have to agree with KJRiddle. i doubt it but it is not impossible
    -Best leading actor/Best leading actress/Best supporting actor: a good chance for supporting acting for Alan Rickman but I doubt it. Honestly, it will be hard for Dan or Emma unless they'll pull off a performance like Saroise Ronan in Atonement. sadly, I don't think DH will get an acting nod.
    -Best director: not sure about this but if DH is really done well then why not.
    -Best Picture: i'm not closing my doors but they have to make DH really good.

    I think that if Harry Potter is not based on a book series, people will appreciate the films more. So far POA and HBP are my faves while 2 and 5 are the worst.

    Oh yeah i forgot about that Richard, of course Snape cant die with a killing curse if it made Stuart Craig cry... sorry about that i just had a lot of thoughts and things running through my head, not least, a nice cold beer and an even nicer lady so named Emma Watson! but back to the subject we were discussing... although that is true about Snape you still cant put it past Yates to somehow find a way to fcuk it up can you? for instance changing Snapes death even with the Cruciatus curse would be bad though not quite as bad as the Killing Curse idea.

    Oh yeah,Yates can kill him with a cruciatus curse if he finds out who he really was working for.Yeap,Yates can definitely kill the final movies.Oh and Dobby will probably substitute for kreacher at Grimmauld pl. Cause I read somwere HP finds siriuss glass there and he might see the eye so Dobby might appear there and hell talk bout Regulus and junk.Im not sure if this is a good thing.Anyone?

    The voice for Kreacher has been confirmed for Deathly Hallows. So I doubt Dobby will take his place.

    I don't think Yates can do it..............it might get a nomination for best cinematography.......but that's it............as for best picture..........as much as I love HP..........Yates is certainly not the guy to do it...................best director......not likely..........as for best actor or actress/supporting actor or actress...........no.........Yates is horrible and probably will not get the actors/actresses to really show their worth..........best adaptive screenplay............ha......no way.....don't know how much of the actual script that Kloves wrote would have been changed while Yates is filming......happens all the time in film........of course Yates isn't all to blame.......it's also David Heyman and David Barron's fault too........the producers.......

    HBP appeared on many year end top 20 charts!
    That's a bright spot right there!
    The leads have almost 0 chance of nominations!
    RIckman and Fiennes however have been gr8 all along! And who knows if they actually extend Hurt's part, he might have a shot too! PS: Smith deserved a nomination for PS but her part was too small!

    BTW: I think Cuaron is the best director the series had! Period! Newell is close but Cuaron has the style!

    I think all the actors and directors are great. :) But I couldn't really pick my favorite director, they all are great. Columbus is good at keeping the book's spirit and fantasy. Cuaron is good at adding style and color and action. Newell is similar, but he also developed characters really well and created a boarding school-type feel. Yates in OotP focused on the tone and depth of the book, which was a sort of half-hearted attempt. In HBP he redeemed himself though, by adding in flavor and although it was very talky and not action-packed, he still immersed it into a well-crafted, dark film. Plus the cinematography was gorgeous, best in the series by far.

    if POA was nominated for Best Picture in the 2005 Oscars for 2004 it would've gone up against The Aviator, Finding Neverland, Ray, Sideways, and Million Dollar Baby which won. I think it could've stood a fair chance.

    Anyways, I don't really think DH could earn a best picture nom. I guess it could get shortlisted, but don't most oscar nominees come out in the late year? like november and december? You would have to have an extraordinary film that came out in the summer for an oscar nom, like Up. I mean, I guess Part 2 could, but....it just doesn't seem realistic to me.

    i was thinking with all the 3D the acdemy should add a category best 3D film if they did it NEXT oscars DH would be a shoo in!

    hum, I think Yates will do an excellento work in Dh, I mean it is THE END of Harry Potter!!! You think WB will let Yates to f*ck up the GRAND FINALE for their massive gold-mine??? I personally do no think so.

    And Aaron you said all best-picture nominees come out in december-november, and no big summer flicks get a chance at that category. Well, THE HURT LOCKER was a summer film, and it won for best picture

    Well, what Aaron said is misleading! It's the other way around! Studios release a movie with Oscar potential in the winter, because that fascilitates the oscar marketing!

    i know haha, I guess I wrote it a bit confusing. I meant, most Oscar-potential films would be released in the late year. A summer movie to to be Oscar-nominated is very hard to get, so the film would have to be an EXTRAORDINARY film to get nominated, like Up. That's why i don't think Part 2 would have a chance at a Best Picture nom, or Part 1 for that matter. Hope that clears things up.
