I just finished reading THG and I LOVED it. I'm okay with all the casting that's been done until now. I especially love the casting for Rue, Thresh and Foxface. I liked the casting for Cato and Clove as well, and Prim. I kind of pictured an older version of Robert Downey Jr. too, as Haymitch. But Woody Harrelson looks good as well. I can't wait to see how the Capital looks. I always pictured it as having a golden tone, like a mix of golden skyscrapers, highlighted by silver or dark gray. Kind of like the world we see in Tron, just more real and solid and gray, with golden tones. I pictured a white young man as Cinna, so the casting of Kravitz caught me by surpirse.
I have absolutely know problems with Jennifer Lawrence being cast as Katniss because even though we're told she's just sixteen I always pictured her to be older because of the way she thinks and acts, she's much more mature than a sixteen year old. Same wwith Gale and Peeta.
All in all, I'm okay with the casting and can't wait to see how it all looks on screen. I'm pumped.
"Authorities in Washington State say they’re arrested a teenage girl for allegedly shooting her dad with an arrow after he took her cellphone away.
Mason County detective William Adam says the man told officers that his 15-year-old daughter used a hunting bow to shoot him Wednesday evening after he grounded her and took the phone.
KOMO-TV reports he was airlifted from the rural, forested Tahuya area to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and listed in serious condition. Adam says the girl fled into woods behind her home with the bow and arrows but police surrounded her and arrested her for investigation of first-degree assault.
I do find it pretty stupid most of the time when they cast an actress to dye her hair when they could have just cast one that already has that hair color. Or how 'bout something like casting a white guy to play a black guy's role (ie Robert Downey Jr.) or an American to attempt a Russian accent instead of just casting a Russian actor (ie Mickey Rourke in IM2) WTF is up with that stuff...? :-?
I agree, all the Avox girl does is stand there and basically asks for pity with her expressions. It would have looked better to have a redhead play her.
The first explosion in District 12 may make some fans rather unhappy. While Katiniss and Gale’s fathers were killed in a mine explosion in the book, that’s not how HOLLYWOOD is portraying their deaths. However, the movie version might fuel the idea that Mr. Everdeen was anti-Capitol sympathizer, and, MAYBE, the Capitol will blame the explosion on a gas leak. So, WHERE did they die? Check it out at: http://www.downwiththecapitol.net/
The news they were talking about is this:
Earlier, we reported that the first explosion for the Hunger Games film took place yesterday Henry River Mill Village, the site of the film’s District 12. The explosion itself isn’t a surprise (we should all be able to remember that Katniss and Gale’s fathers were killed in a blast), but the location of the detonation (a house not some kind of fabricated mine shaft) will probably be shocking to some fans—especially those who don’t want the movie to derivate in any way from the books. But the idea of Mr. Everdeen and Mr. Hawthorne dying in a house explosion is not only plausible but also really exciting!
My theory is that the movie will confirm the circulating theory that Mr. Everdeen was an anti-Capitol sympathizer (to hear more on this theory, check out Episode 7 of the Fireside Chat). Mr. Everdeen and Mr. Hawthorne will be members of a secret group of District 12 citizens who meet in secret to discuss the idea of rebellion/revolution. Once the Capitol gets wind of their activities, they wait for the next meeting, and BOOM—there goes the problem. The Capitol blames it on a natural gas leak, but the citizens of District 12 know what really happened. The blast has the desired effect, however; it essentially crushes any idea of rebellion in the District (and any hope as well).
This is important (especially in light of the Catching Fire and Mockingjay) because it shows that there is already unrest in Panem. If there are secret meetings happening in District 12, it is likely that they are happening in other Districts as well. (After all, two seventeen-year-old kids from the Seam can’t be the only ones who see the tyranny of the Capitol.) It offers a solid foundation for the rebellions that have begun at the start of Catching Fire; they sprung up so quickly because people were already organized, they were just waiting for the right time.
It also offers an explanation for the rumored absence of Madge (with Katniss receiving the Mockingjay pin from Prim instead). I would hazard a guess that the movie pin will have belonged to their father (and so is already a sign of rebellion though Katniss will be unaware of that when she receives it)—this will be a reason why she is immediately associated with the anti-Capitol movement.
I thought it really interesting, Fury. We know that Suzanne Collins is supervising the screenplay. I've found out a good solution. And, in the book, Katniss says that it's really easy to the Capitol to kill someone and make it seems that was an accident. I'm fine with it. I think it's going to work better in the movie. But I wasn't expecting a flashback. I don't like the idea.
"Andrew, look at yourself. This isn't who you are!"
One thing that is really odd, is if this turns out to be right, and the Mockingjay pin is the symbol of a known rebellion, then the Capital would never allow her to wear it.
Also these would be the children of two known rebels. Two hunted rebels. Their families would have been hung in the books for that.
But I think the Capitol will not know the meaning of the Pin. I mean, if Katniss doesn't know the meaning... I don't think they will portrait the Capitol knowing it. That way, everyone would know.

Why is this a bad thing? Same story just expanded and more in a better form (I think a actual scene would be more effectful then a flashback).

Her comments are a bit weird.
This is the girl cast as the Avox girl, Amber Chaney. Just annoucened by the official Lionsgate Twitter.
"People can be so superficial. And super pissed at my agent right now. She'll be looking for a job."
