I don't remember this was in the book, but it was in the Prisoner of Azkaban movie when Petunia said James didn't work when trying to not make her suspicious. It actually is true, James was either unemployed or had a very low paying job because the amount of money he inherited meant he did not need to work at all or just very little.

This one is one of my favorite little untold ones: Dean Thomas, who is thought to be muggleborn, actually had a wizard father who was killed by death eaters when he didn't join.

Neville marries Hannah Abbot. Hannah becomes the new Three Broomsticks owner after Madam Rosmerta retires.
Ginny becomes a member of the Harpies, but retires later to help with family.
Harry and Ron become Aurors and revolutionize the Ministry of Magic. Harry later becomes the Head Auror.
Before Ron became an Auror, he helped George at Weasley Wizard Wheezes for a while.
Ron achieved the thing he wanted most in life: His face and name on a Chocolate Frog Card.
Didn't know that last one! Haha, that's pretty good :p

Some of the more interesting ones :

JKR: “Luna became a very famous wizarding naturalist who discovered and classified many new species of animals (though, alas, she never did find a Crumple-Horned Snorkack)”

JKR: “Hermione began her post-Hogwarts career at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures where she was instrumental in greatly improving life for house-elves and their ilk. She then moved (despite her jibe to Scrimgeour) to the Dept. of Magical Law Enforcement where she was a progressive voice who ensured the eradication of oppressive, pro-pureblood laws."

After Hogwarts, Ginny played professional Quidditch for the Holyhead Harpies, then became the Senior Quidditch correspondent at the Daily Prophet.

JKR: Griphook was wrong - Gryffindor did not 'steal' the sword.”

The third thing Hermione smells with Amortentia is the scent of Ron’s hair.

    # Although he was "immensely" brave, JKR doesn't see Snape as a hero due to his bullying and spitefulness.
    # If Snape had not loved Lily "he wouldn't have been remotely interested in what happened" to Harry.

The last line originally read something like "Only those whom he loved could see the lightning scar."

Just read this, and can't believe I didn't notice at all while reading the books:

Why was Snape so mean to Neville throughout the books? It’s because he wishes Neville would have been the Chosen One instead of Harry (and by extension, would have saved Lily’s life).

    Oh, something I always notice.

Hermione is the oldest of the trio. Her birthday is in September, so she would have been too young to go the year before. And she turned 11 like mid-September.
Her birthday's september 19th. Same day as mine haha :p

Dean originally joined Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville for the advanture in "The Midnight duel" chapter in PS. Dean was called Gary in those days.

There was a sequence in PS, when Oliver Wood called Harry "new Charlie Weasley". Then he started telling people "I´ve got a seeker even better than Charlie Weasley". In the same chapter (after trio, Dean and Neville saw Fluffy), Neville had woken up several times with nightmares about the dog.

Bathsheda Babbling was a professor or Study of Ancient Runes.

Divination´s professor was originally called Mopsue (male).

Alternate names for Buckbeak: Stormswift, Hothoof, Fleetwing

Draco´s surname used to be "Spungen" in very early draft.

Dean Thomas´ appearance is not mentioned in the British book (PS)

There was a scene in Chamber of Secrets (later in Goblet of Fire) when Theodore Nott´s father goes to visit Lucius Malfoy to discuss Voldemort-realted business and we see Draco and Theodore alone in the garden having a talk. Jo liked the scene- it showed difference between the place where Draco has grown up and number four, Privet Drive.

In GOF, there was originally a woman named Mopsy, the dog-lover who took care of Padfoot (similarity with cat-lover Mrs. Figg).

The first chapter of PS was Voldemort entering Godric´s Hollow and killing the Potter in early draft. Other drafts included a character by the name of Pyrites who was a servant of Voldemort´s and was meeting Sirius in front of the Potters´ house.

Crookshanks is a half kneazle, Mrs. Norris just a very inteligent cat.

Tonks was in Hufflepuff, Myrtle in Rawnclaw.

Flitwick is a human with a dash of goblin ancestry.

If there are 10 students (5 boys, 5 girls) for each year (7) in each house (4), then that would be 280 students total.
