Stanley Kubrick :x I've only ever seen Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, and 2001, but I can't wait until I'm a bit older to watch his more 'mature' films. I want to make sure I get them.
Full Metal Jacket is one of my favorites of his. 2001 is good. Paths of Glory is good, as is Spartacus. Lolita is one of my faves by him but A Clockwork Orange is perhaps my favorite. He did justice to the book and still kind of did his own thing. :D But Morse...Don't watch it till your a bit older hahahaha

That's the one I'm waiting to watch, lol.
haha its an adventure lmao. I recommend reading the book too at some point but not till your older hahaha :P
Lolita is my favourite Kubrick film out of the ones I've watched. I also liked Barry Lyndon and found The Shining decent enough to consider rewatching it. Full Metal Jacket and A Clockwork Orange were both uneven; FMJ started out good and then went downhill halfway through whereas ACO first got interesting when the psychopath got arrested. 2001 was dreadful. Possibly one of the most overrated films I've seen.
@Mac: can you say more about 'My week with marilyn'? Was Emma good in it?
I was really surprised by Emma it looks like she is processing ,she was that girl with hopes on Colin but you know Colin starts flirting with Marilyn and at the end when Lucy asked him "Did she break your heart"? Colin says "A little " and Emma stole the whole show with the line "Good it needed breaking" Because for the first time since Deathly Hallows part 2 i could feel her acting her emotions.
I liked A Clockwork Orange, probably my favorite of his, but Full Metal Jacket is right there. Haven't seen Lolita.
It certainly presents some interesting themes. What I appreciated most about it is the way Kubrick contrasts the social position of the main character in society before and after the arrestation. So yeah, it was good to a certain degree.
Yeah I will drink to that. 2001 is good not great. I'd give it a 6.5/10
I'd give it a 3 or 4. I haven't seen it in a bit and don't plan to, lmfao. I acknowledge it did some great things, but yeah I dislike it :p
Visually I love it lmao. On the other fields...well...lol. It's like a Sucker Punch type movie to me where I enjoy looking at it but when I begin to think about it then...eh lmao however 2001's story is more focused than Sucker Punchs...I just needed a comparison as different as they may be lol
The action is great, it feels like you are in the battle at times. The ending, sad. Nice plot, wish there was more to it. The music was ok. Overall though it was quite enjoyable. The romance story is kinda cute but odd lol. Its actually rediculous but I had a good time.
Midnight in Paris: 8.5/10 I would rate it a 9, but something doesn't let me. I REALLY loved the message of the movie. Also the feeling, the costumes, and people, they all felt so right! It was charming.

Haha I had so much fun with this movie. I might be a bight biased because I loved all the famous people mentioned, lmfao, so seeing them was very enjoyable :p

Yes, yes! With every person he met I was sitting there like "OHMYGOD that must be the best feeling in the world" as if I was watching a documentary.
Pretty good and enjoyable overall, but it lacked some depth, imo. There were moments when I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Acting was good, specially from Clooney, and his daughter was hot as hell. 7 out of 10.
I still would replace it for another movie like 50/50 on the nominees.
@Pumpkinjuice Check out Tarkovsky's Solaris. It's loads better than 2001 and is actually a personal story about humans instead of a rogue computer turning on the passengers.

So Crucify the ego, before it's far too late, to leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical. And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.

No 10 minute stargates nor half hour of apes pounding their fists?
No. But there is a lengthy scene with a car traveling through a tunnel. But that's trivial.

man, The Matrix Reloaded is a phenomenal movie. There's very little to find fault in. Remember: "Hope. It is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and your greatest weakness."

Chronicle 6/10 Boring at first half , great acting and epic drama at the end. Frozen 4/10 Lame story ,shitty end but still okay movie to spent your time.
(Christian Alvart, 2009)3/4 It's so hard to find good sci-fi movies these days. I remember watching Pandorum at the movies and enjoying it. After re-watching it, I am totally convinced that it is a really underrated movie. It is true that it works much better as a Sci-Fi than a horror pic, and that everything related to the "monsters" is a little bit silly, but the movie itself has a great philosophical background and I consider the ending one of the most unexpected twists of the decade. The impressive production design also contributes to set up the mood. Thumbs up.

I really really liked it, but wanted to punch Hilly in the face by the end and really wished someone had. Even though Minnie's revenge on Hilly was hilarious.
:'( Poor Leighton Meester. She's starring in That's My Boy, so that could either straighten her movie career, or just shrink it. :S
"That's My Boy" is that horrendous Adam Sandler film, isn't it? Well in that case I think her career is destined to stay bent forever. She really needs to look up how to straighten it, or get a pro to show her

At least she has Gossip Girl to experiment with her abilities and shed the layers she doesn't need.

This is a christian film and it's message really hit me deeply, I loved it. It was very emotional at the end.

Fantastic, exciting, and suspenseful. Amazing performances by Robert de Niro, Juliette Lewis, Nick Nolte, and Jessica Lange.

Wow. So beautiful.
A really well-told story about self-growth and doing the right thing for the common good. Fantastic visuals!

Jesus Christ. They really needed 4 screenwriters to write this shit?
