This thread is for Photography enthusiasts and lovers like me and Marie for instance, and is primarily meant to post some of the awesome pictures from our side for the other members to admire and comment upon, which we would very much like. Brickbats are also accepted. Some nice encouraging words spoken in the "Moon" thread necessitated the need for this thread.Do try and comment because that is what would help us to post more and more pics in the future, and share our talent with The HPF Family.

I would NOT be giving a description of a picture in case it is "generic" or "self explanatory"or "just-not-some-pic-which-is-supposed-to-be-described ". Photos that warrant an explanation would be given the needful. And please dont make this thread a "post some pics about yourself", if it is ONLY about yourself.

    Thank You.

PS - The text was added by me. Its not something that I often do, but this was clicked on a trip with friends and I was kind of experimenting.... :)

btw, if you want to write on a picture, either put a header on it or make the text opacity lower... it gets in the way! :))

This pic was taken in the same trip. We were trekking and quite suddenly nightfall occurred and since this place was in a very remote place and a hilly terrain, we had to pass the night in a small hut of a rural family living in this place. It had no electricity, which you people can obviously see..... "dhaba" means a small living shelter in Hindi.

This pic is taken near Half-Moon beach ( yes the name is real, I dont know why lol) near a place called Rameswaram in South India. The southern part of our country is surrounded by ocean and seas, and that is what you see in the pic. I had to tweak the camera settings to get this pic however. And it was taken at midnight.

This was taken near a hill station called Munnar, about 200 km away from Rameswaram, lying westwards. This place is famous in India for its lovely tea gardens. Though tea gardens can be found in other parts of India too, these are special because they are not built on a flat piece of land, but instead are built to match the contour and terrain of the gently sloping hills.

Clicked during trip to the state of Rajasthan, western India famous for the Great Thar Desert. you can observe the sand dunes. Though this pic was NOT about the sand dunes interestingly. :)

    Kashmir, India- beautiful.

The Valley of Flowers, Himachal Pradesh, North India near the Himalayas.

Just before sunrise. Pondicherry- Coastal Town in South West India.
    image
Dhanushkodi, town near the southermost tip of India. This place is very mysterious as it was destroyed in a Tsunami in 1964, and since then it got converted into a "ghost town". Nobody lives here and the whole area is full of sand, swamp and 1 inch of sea water extending everywhere. Our neighbouring country Sri Lanka, is apparently just 20-30 miles from here, and though sea lies in between, there is rumored to be a swampy /marshy path existing connecting the two mainlands, with references dating back 2000/3000 years. It has never been confirmed though. NASA's satellite imagery of the area shows nothing conclusive.
    image
More of Dhanushkodi. The whole place is quite eerie with an unnerving silence. Infact, in my computer I have named the folder of this trip as "At World's End"....
