Just got back from Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

I has finally come out in Brazil and I just got back from the theater. Whoa, I can't believe how good this was! Just so much fun!
The story is great, and once again we have brilliant performances from both RDJ and Jude Law.
What's really curious is that, while following the same formula, this one is just so different from the first one! I mean, it looks like the last one was only a prototype to a bigger product, which is Game of Shadows.
I was a little annoyed by the fact that this one is presented in 2:35:1 while the first one was shot on 1:85:1, but the great use of the bigger scope almost made up for the discontinuity. One thing that also bothered me was the fact that the movie builds up to a freakin' chess match. Like WTF? Let's talk disappointing climaxes.
But still, overall, despite the flaws pointed above, I just freakin' loved it! So stylish, so thrilling, and so cool!
Kudos to the forest chase scene which was AWESOMETASTIC

I don't get why this is being so underrated.
At least it's being successful at the box office. A third one would be awesome.

Forest chase was a great visual show and showed how Holmes and Watson would react in that situation, but Holmes vs Moriarty was like two Gods facing each other in a mind game.

Good point. I really enjoyed both scenes. Though, i'm wondering why there was so many shots that ought to have not been the way they were. They looked out of place in a non 3D movie. Like, the entire forest chase, with all the slow motion shots. And the slow motion shot that was used in the Holmes and Moriarty showdown, as they fall. Make no mistake, i enjoyed each of those. But i felt as though they were a tiny bit misplaced.

Still haven't seen it. I enjoyed the first one for its wit, charm and excellent plot but I doubt I'll get around to seeing Game of Shadows this season. :(

SPOILERS: Saw it yesterday and wtf! This movie was so bad. The pacing was too slow. The plot didn't make sense and how on earth can someone survive such a huge fall!?!. Sometimes the humor was good, but sometimes it felt so out of place. The chess scene was good, but not good enough for an ending of a movie. It lacked action. Now it was just talking and then the credits.

I loved this movie from start to finish. The chess scene was brilliantly done. I don't care that it wasn't an action climax, the clashing minds of these two geniuses had me paying attention to everything they were saying and the magnificence of it all. Amazing movie.
