That is why I believe that one shouldn't have the right to bear arms. I think that if you are on a shooting range, great. Military, whatever. Police, sure.. But not civilians. We have the ability to defend ourselves without guns.

I did see on my local news station's facebook that the guy said he was the Joker. I don't know what is happening to the world today but I can't grasp the direction it's going in. Today is a very sad day :(

I actually almost choked up a bit earlier today thinking about it. I don't know why, but probably for several reasons. I think what got me the most was seeing Jessica Redfield's Twitter feed, her last post being "movie starts in 20 minutes!" I mean, can you even comprehend this? A fellow geek, a fellow human being, a fellow advocate of journalism and entertainment. Clearly a beautiful and kind person, going by her tweets.

I was just sitting here trying to mentally consume it all, because something about it feels so close to home. And it's not just her, but every victim equally that I care for. However, not all the time do you see things that someone that has just been killed seen moments before it happened: what she typed on Twitter, what she was watching when she was killed-- it's an insurmountable load to think about.

I never really get emotionally upset over terrible news stories. I do, but I never really feel anything personal as its usually about someone that I don't know personally. But something about this hits closer to home. Maybe it's because I'm an aspiring filmmaker with an upcoming independent film under my screenwriting belt. Maybe it's because I love theater, I love film, I love fellow nerds, geeks, enthusiasts of the medium. Maybe it's just everything put together.

What isn't a maybe, however, is whether or not I would pay to have time alone with this person. For one, I would finally get the opportunity to see what a monster looks like, and to speak with something that looks like a human, wears the shell of a human, but has no other traits of a human. Because there isn't a single real human being that could be capable of something like this. The term "humanity" is derived from "human," and someone that could do something like this clearly has no humanity, thus they are not human.

I don't know. For whatever reason I feel personally affected by this. When I see the film tonight, I don't know that I will be able to fully enjoy it because I will be watching something that these people were watching when they had a monster point a shotgun at them and pulled the trigger. Fucking monster.

Amc theaters has just banned masks and any type of prop weapon. I'm definitely for this, and this kind of policy will more than likely be adopted at most theaters in the coming weeks.

We have metal detectors and get frisking done at every public place, here in India. The tiny bit of inconvenience it causes is much much more preferable than allowing attacks like these to happen.

This is exactly how I'm feeling. I'm glad someone was able to put it into words. Just thinking that I'll be seeing the same thing as they died is just awful. I was also affected by this, but I also think its because we were all looking forward to seeing it.

I watched every single ABC video of it, I'm literally devastated.
I just don't know what to say anymore. I was thinking about at the movies but then let myself enjoy the movie.
I got home really happy, and now after watching this...
